Steven & Antony

Steven Mwashalo

I am Steven Mwashalo. I was born in the year 1994. I have both parents, one brother, and three sisters. I did my K.C.P.E. last year and now I am at Kaputiei Secondary School. It was hard for me to keep up with my studies in primary school because of school fees. At times, I stayed home because of my issues with school fees. All that did not hold me back. I continued my struggle to the end, and I did well on my examination.

I am really struggling hard to become somebody in the future, to have an important job in this country. I also have an interest in pursuing my talent playing football. I just want to work hard and do well to improve my talent and to achieve my goals. I need to be focused and never lose hope no matter what. Hard work and discipline are what I need to achieve my goals.

Antony Keresa

My name is Antony Keresa, born in 1991. I have four brothers, and my mother was not blessed with a girl. My mother was jobless, though she was searching for a job within the hotel in Kangemi where I was brought up. There was a government school nearby where I was learning but because my mother could go almost three days without getting a job we had no food day and night. I could not continue with my studies when I was hungry so I dropped out of school to search for food.

The life out there was not easy because at the age I was no one could employ me. I started collecting garbage that I could sell, such as scrap metal, so that I could satisfy our needs. When I was doing this I met friends who showed me the routes and ways of getting money. They took me to Westlands where I stayed for almost three years.

God had his own plans for me. A Good Samaritan appeared and took me out of that hopeless life. Ingrid gave me clothes, shelter, and took me to school. When I was in standard three, my mother died. It was a painful thing but I thank God because I am living. I feel sad when I remember my brothers because I can’t help them. I pray to God that I will succeed and start a project to help those who are living in that hopeless life.

My vision is that when I complete school I will be an engineer/comedian. I want to be the solution to the problems of my brothers and sisters who are there in the streets. I want to help people like Ingrid did for me. I pray to God that he will hear my prayers.
