Kaputiei Secondary School started in January 2010 with 21 students in Form I (9th grade), 6 in Form II (10th grade), and 6 in Form III (11th grade). The school has four teachers and four classrooms with plenty of room for expansion. Challenges for the school include the need for more classrooms. The school has no laboratory space for students to do practical work in physics, chemistry, and biology. Practical lab work forms a large component of the exit exam Form IV (12th grade) students take to move onto further education.
